About ULACIT

The Latin American University of Science and Technology (ULACIT), is a private university located in San José, the capital city of Costa Rica. It is a dynamic and modern university with high academic standards and a reputation for innovation, opportunity and enterprise. With an urban campus in a capital city which attracts international conferences and visitors, ULACIT has a global education outlook.
It was established in 1987 and officially recognized by the Costa Rican government, and it is listed in the World Higher Education Database of 2002; PIER Central American Update (NAFSA/AACRAO), 1996; and World List of Universities and Other Institutions of Higher Education, 23rd ed. (International Association of Universities); among others.
 

Spanish Language Programs
The Spanish school at ULACIT offers courses at the low, intermediate and advanced levels which emphasize a communicative approach to learning the four basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Furthermore, courses reinforce pronunciation skills, grammar structures, vocabulary and idiomatic expressions in efforts to provide a comprehensive learning experience. About the ACE Program
The Academic Cultural Exchange (ACE) Program encompasses the study of the Spanish language and of elective courses in various disciplines with an emphasis on Latin American studies. The program also includes travel to natural, historic and cultural destinations within the country, as a basis for further instruction.
ULACIT recommends this study abroad program for its ability to provide students with general knowledge and deeper understanding of a foreign culture. It is active and experiential; putting what the students have learned into effective practice.
The elective courses given in the ACE program can be related to the following topics:
• Latin American Affairs and Business
• Environmental Studies
• Latin American Culture
• Literature and Linguistics
• Research topics in Tropical Ecology at the university’s privately owned wildlife refuge, La Marta.
